POLICE in the Scottish Borders have charged a 31-year-old man in connection with an alleged assault following an incident during a Border Amateur League football match.
Officers were called to the match between Langholm and Langlee at the Scholars 3G pitch on Thomas Telford Road Langholm around 3.15pm on Saturday afternoon.
It is understood that a Langlee player was assaulted after an incident in the game which ended in a 3-3 draw.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of an assault at Thomas Telford Road, Langholm, around 3.15pm on Saturday, 22 October, 2022.
“A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection and a report sent to Procurator Fiscal."
