A BID for a new mixed housing development on the site of a former textiles factory in a Borders town has been put on the agenda.
Scottish Borders Housing Association want to build 12 affordable homes on the long-demolished factory site south west of Burnfoot Autos in Fairhurst Drive, Hawick.
A submission with the application, from Galashiels-based Aitken Turnbull Associates, said: “Of the 12 homes proposed, six will address Fairhurst Drive on the north boundary of the site with the remaining homes forming a new courtyard with street parking accessed from Fairhurst Drive.
“There is demand in the area for single storey cottages and wheelchair accessible homes, these will be located along Fairhurst Drive, closer to the bus routes and central facilities within Burnfoot. Family homes will address the new courtyard.”
