MOTORISTS in the Borders are reminded that roadworks resume on the A68 tonight for the next two weeks.

This is to allow for improved road markings and road stud works to be undertaken and it is a full road closure to ensure the safety of those carrying out the work and the travelling public.

The closures will happen at the following locations.

A68 Bonjedward to A68 / A6088 junction Monday November 7 to Friday 11 and Monday 14 to Friday 18 7.30pm – 6am (Signed diversions via A698 and A6088.)

A68 / A6088 to national boundary Friday November 18 7.30pm to 6am – Single lane closure with temporary traffic lights.

Border Telegraph:

A spokesperson for BEAR Scotland said: “Due to the high volume of traffic through this section of the A68, we have no option but to close the road to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public.

“During construction hours a clearly signed diversion route will be in place.

“Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Local access will be maintained up to the point of the works extent and local access for residents within the closure will also be maintained throughout the duration of the work.”
