A 72-YEAR-OLD woman has died in a crash in the Borders, according to police.

The incident happened on the B6397 near Kelso just before 9am today (November 11), say officers.

A grey Kia Venga and a red Mercedes GLE 300 were involved in the collision.

Emergency services attended and the 72-year-old woman, who had been driving the Kia Venga, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road remains closed in both directions while an investigation is carried out.

Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick from the Road Policing Unit based at Livingston said: “I am appealing to anyone who was on the B6397 this morning and witnessed the incident, or noticed either vehicle on the road beforehand, to please get in touch.

“In particular I would urge any motorists with dash-cams to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact the Road Policing Unit based at Livingston through 101, quoting incident number 0732 of Friday, November 11, 2022.”
