The B6397 road near Kelso has reopened after a fatal crash which took place just before 9am this morning (Friday November 11 2022)
Emergency services were called to the scene and the road was closed between its junction with the B6404 and A6089.
The crash involved a Kia Venga and a Mercedes GLE 300.
Emergency services attended and the 72-year-old woman, who had been driving the Kia Venga, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road remained closed for several hours to facilitate a forensic examination of the scene by specially trained police investigators.
At 7pm a police spokesperson confirmed that the road had reopened.
The identity of the driver has not been released at this time.
