A 55-year-old man involved in a neighbourly dispute has been fined £400 at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

James Frizzell pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing, acting in an aggressive manner, repeatedly kicking open a garden gate and challenging a neighbour to fight in Tweed Road, Galashiels, on August 7.

The court was told the dispute started over loud music being played at Frizzell's home in the early hours of the morning and knocking on the wall telling him to stop.

Frizzell then confronted the neighbour at his front door.

In addition to the fine, the first offender was told to pay a victim surcharge of £20.
