CHRISTMAS in Galashiels may look a little different this year, but there is still plenty to do to get into the festive spirit.

Although there will be no Christmas lights switch-on event this year, the town will still sparkle as the lights are turned on on Saturday, November 26.

Galashiels Scout Group will also bring back its Christmas Post project, delivering Christmas cards in Galashiels, Clovenfords and Tweedbank.

It costs 30p per card, and cards can be dropped off at four local collection points:

Tesco – Friday, December 2, 4-6pm

Tesco – Saturday, December 3, 10am-noon

Asda – Friday, December 9, 4-6pm

Galashiels Scout Hall – Saturday, December 10, 1-3pm

Trophy Guy – Monday, November 28-Saturday, December 10

All the money raised goes towards activities for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.

On Friday, December 3 The Heartland Market will have its Christmas Market open, offering a range of gifts and treats made by local producers and creatives.

From 10am to 4pm, the market will highlight all the amazing local businesses in and around Galashiels, giving visitors the chance to find the perfect gift for others, or a treat for themselves.

The Brothers of Charity Services (Scotland) will also host their Christmas Fayre on Saturday, December 10 at Triest House.

From 10am to 1pm there will be craft stalls, a tombola, tasty treats and the chance to meet Father Christmas.

All of the proceeds from the Fayre will be donated to Galashiels Foodbank.

Businesses all around the town will also have plenty in store to help you find the perfect gifts for loved ones and products to help you with your Christmas festivities.

And after a day of shopping you can visit any of the amazing cafés and restaurants in the town to put up your feet, and enjoy a break.
