A 38-YEAR-OLD man has been banned from the road for 12 months after admitting a drug-driving offence.
Adrian Kubiak, of High Street, Selkirk, pleaded guilty to the offence which happened on the A7 in Hawick on the afternoon of March 14.
Drew Long, prosecuting, told Jedburgh Sheriff Court that the vehicle had come to the attention of police officers and it was subsequently stopped.
He added that officers could detect a strong smell of cannabis and Kubiak was asked to produce samples which proved positive.
When cautioned and charged he made no reply.
Representing himself in court, the self-employed van driver admitted:"It was a huge mistake."
In addition to the year-long disqualification, he was ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work.
