TRAFFIC in Galashiels in extremely heavy this afternoon with slow moving queues from the Kingsknowes roundabout into the town centre.
All major supermarket car parks are full with cars operating a one in one out system.
Long tailbacks can be seen at every set of traffic lights.
Emergency repairs are being carried out to the gas network in Church Street, Galashiels.
To allow the engineers to work safely, Church Street is closed at its junction with the A7 Abbotsford Road heading into town.
A signed diversion is in place for motorists via Albert Place, St John Street and Scott Crescent.
It's too early to say at this stage, how long repairs will take to complete.
