MORE ‘weel kent’ faces have joined Doddie Aid 2023 and they are encouraging others to do likewise.

Former England international and host of popular BBC programme A Question of Sport Matt Dawson, TV presenter Mark Durden-Smith, Montpellier number eight Zach Mercer and Scotland international Rhona Lloyd have all signed up for the challenge.

And the quartet appeared in a promotional video to highlight the event which looks likely to surpass previous years.

Dawson said: ”Join up. You can do any type of exercise, it all counts, running jogging, walking or swimming. Let’s all be inspired by Doddie. Download the app, join the teams, raise some cash and we will find that cure.

Smith said: “Yesterday I did a 12-mile cycle at very low speed and today I am going to immerse myself in water and swim a mile. Please join the gang, whatever gang you want to join. Doddie Aid 2023 needs your help.

Mercer said: ”Just download the Doddie Aid app and let’s take part we’ll tackle this. It’s all for a great cause so let’s see what we can achieve together.

Lloyd said: “The Doddie Aid January challenge, download the app, buy your snood. All the money goes to MND research.

Already almost 35,000 people have signed up and raised more than £700,000 by completing well over half a million miles.

Any exercise counts, with the winning district being the one with the most miles at the end of the event.

North and Midlands led by Eve Muirhead currently top the leaderboard but Stuart Hogg's Team South are not far behind.
