AN AIRDRIE man travelled to the Borders armed with two claw hammers after suspecting his former partner was having an affair.
Fifty-eight-year-old John Stewart, of Devonview, pleaded guilty to sending the woman threatening messages on August 28.
Jedburgh Sheriff Court was told he was stopped by police on a bus on the A7 at Appletreehall, north of Hawick, where the offensive weapons were recovered.

The court heard the couple had separated after seven years and he incorrectly believed she was having an affair.
He sent threatening messages which caused concern including that he would be visiting her and another man within 30 minutes which led to the police being called.
Fiscal Fiona Hamilton said the couple had now reconciled and there was no request for a Non-Harassment Order.
Sentence was deferred for 12 months for good behaviour.
