SCOTLAND’S national poet Robert Burns is honoured annually, not just in his native land, but all over the world.
On Friday January 20 2023 members of Galashiels Burns Club met at Lawyer’s Brae to place a wreath at the poet’s statue in celebration of his birth on January 25 1759.
Club chairman Bruce Robertson did the honours as the town’s clock struck 2pm.
The club has been honouring Burns since 1908 and after a pandemic related absence the annual Burns Supper returned on Friday night to the town’s Volunteer Hall.
A full report of the proceedings along with a fine spread of photographs will appear in next week’s Border Telegraph.
