SCOTTISH Borders Council have put out a final call for responses to its 2023 budget survey.

With less than a week until the survey's deadline of Tuesday, January 31, the council is calling for more Borderers to take part and share what they think should be a priority for the region.

So far, almost 700 responses have been received and the ideas in some have given councillors "food for thought".

Councillor Euan Jardine, leader of Scottish Borders Council, said: “Throughout the time the survey has been live, councillors have been receiving updates on the responses received and that has given us all food for thought as we develop our budget proposals.

“If you have not had your say yet, there is still time, so please go online or pick up a copy of the survey at one of our Contact Centres.

“Currently responses from residents in the Cheviot locality (Kelso, Jedburgh, St Boswells) and Teviot and Liddesdale (Hawick, Newcastleton, Denholm) are lagging behind those of our other three localities.

"Please don’t miss this opportunity to shape the future of your community and the wider Scottish Borders.”

The survey includes questions on local priorities, council tax, public transport and health and social care.

Ideas on how the council can make better savings are also welcomed.

The survey is available online and printed copies can be found at council contact centres and library contact centres during opening hours.
