THE BIG games are coming thick and fast for Gala Fairydean Rovers.

A 4-2 away win over Celtic was followed by a 1-0 away victory over League One’s Kelty Hearts and a 1-0 home win over Cumbernauld Colts last Saturday.

That result saw Rovers move into the top half of the Lowland League table.

And now it’s the other half of the Old Firm at the Dumbarton Football Stadium on Saturday.

Rangers B are currently in fourth place but are only two points behind leaders Tranent Juniors with two games in hand and one point behind second placed The Spartans with one game in hand.

They are level on points and games played with Celtic B with an inferior goal difference.

The last time Gala faced Rangers B was on October 29 2023 at Netherdale on the day that the iconic stand was reopened to fans and Gala came from behind to record a memorable victory thank to two second half goals from Zander Murray.

Murray is no longer with the club, having joined League Two Bonnyrigg Rose but his departure hasn’t affected results.

Manager Martin Scott boosted his squad with two loan signings, skilful attacker Gospel Ocholi from Partick Thistle and goalkeeper Ruairidh Adams from Dundee United.

And this week the club announced that popular left back Quinn Mitchell who is on loan from FC Edinburgh will remain at Gala Fairydean Rovers until the end of the season.

Scott said: “It’s another big game. There are no easy games in this league.

“We will probably go into the game away from home to Rangers B under no illusions as to the task in front of us.

“I really have a lot of admiration on how they play, how they coach, some of the rotations they have got and that’s what we aspire to be.

“So it’s another good challenge for the players, another test and we are looking forward to it.

“For us we will try and nullify their threats and impose our own game plan on the game. And we will take the game to them.

“I don’t think there is any other way for us to approach the game. We like to play on the front foot and I think that’s how we like to approach every game.”
