A HARDWARE shop in a Borders village is going under the hammer next month.

Holm Hardware and the one-bedroom flat above it in Newcastleton will be part of an upcoming auction in Glasgow.

The starting bid will be £80,000+, according to Auction House Scotland.

A spokesperson said: “A well-established business within the local community, Holm Hardware on South Hermitage Street – the main street running through the village - sells a variety of stock including hardware, paints and home decorating, as well as gifts and stationery. It also operates as a parcel drop off and collection point with a leading courier.

“The shop has a great trade and a profitable turnover, and will be sold as seen with all stock and shop fittings – ready for a new owner to trade straight away.”

They added: “The flat above the shop includes an entrance hallway, modern three-piece bathroom, double bedroom and living room with open plan kitchen. It’s well-presented and neutrally decorated throughout and could be an ideal rental property or live in property while running the business.”

The property will go under the hammer at 2pm on March 23 at the Radisson RED hotel on Tunnel Street.

It will also be live streamed allowing interested bidders the option to watch and bid online.
