A MAN was found driving while disqualified in the Borders a day before his ban was due to expire.

Forty-year-old Marius Bucur, of Main Street, Reston, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance on June 8.

Fiscal Fiona Hamilton told Jedburgh Sheriff Court that he had been disqualified at Gateshead Magistrates on December 10, 2021, in his absence and the ban was due to end on June 9.

His lawyer told the court he was paying for an insurance policy but accepts it would have been invalid due to the disqualification.

Bucur was banned for eight months and fined a total of £600 with a £30 victim surcharge.
