Mason’s mum Raven said: ”The whole family is so proud of him. He’s always loved boxing and is a massive fan of the Rocky films and Muhammad Ali. That's where he got his dancing feet style.

“He actually watched Creed 2 before the weekend’s fight.

“I didn’t go to Ravenscraig as he can be a bit nervous when the family is there but he was so happy when he got back home, showing off his medal.

“I’ve watched the fight on YouTube and you can see by his reaction at the end what it meant to him.

“He’s always been sporty and plays rugby as well, but boxing is his favourite and he wants to be a champion. He never misses training.”

But Mason, who fights at 34kg, wasn’t the only winner from the Borders. His sparring partners, Hawick Boxing Club duo Ivan Watson and Max Vevers, joined him on the podium.
