A FAMILY favourite is coming to the Innerleithen stage.

Thanks to the talents of Innerleithen and District Amateur Operatic Society, the award-winning DreamWorks film Shrek will see the beloved fairytale character brought to life.

David Paterson will play the anti-social hero Shrek, with Douglas Russell taking on the role of his ‘noble steed’ Donkey. As Shrek and Donkey go on their whirlwind musical adventure they meet plenty of other fairytale creatures along the way. On the orders of the villainous Lord Farquaad (Colin Tweedie), Shrek and Donkey go on a journey to rescue Princess Fiona (Nicola Watt).

A spokesperson said: “Come join the adventure as Innerleithen and District Amateur Operatic Society present the Borders premiere of this Tony Award-winning show in the Memorial Hall from March 27 to April 1, nightly at 7.30pm (Saturday Matinee, 2.15pm – single seats only remaining).

“A perfect night out for the young, and the young at heart, Shrek the Musical is guaranteed fun for all ages and will have you dancing in the aisles and laughing all the way home.”
