THE  East of Scotland Cup final between Gala Fairydean Rovers and  Linlithgow Rose will take place 2pm on Sunday March 26 at Ferguson Park (Home of Whitehill Welfare) in Rosewell.

Rovers qualified for the final after a 1-0 victory over League One’s Kelty Hearts at New Central Park on January 21.

Rose qualified after beating FC Edinburgh 3-1 on February 7.

Gala Fairydean Rovers also played Linlithgow Rose at Penicuik in May in the final of the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup.

On that occasion Rose took the lead with a goal from Alan Docherty before Zander Murray equalised for Gala.

The Borderers then dominated the second half and were unfortunate to have a strong penalty claim rejected before Rose took the lead with anther goal from Docherty in the 83rd minute. Sean Heaver wrapped things up in time added on.

Gala boss Martin Scott said: “It’s a tight park and a grass surface so it will be a different challenge for us. Hopefully we can take a big crowd because we know that Linlithgow will bring a big support.”

Rose currently top the East of Scotland Premier Division 10-points clear of second placed Jeanfield Swifts and look certain to gain promotion to the Lowland League next season,

Gala are 12th in the Lowland League on 40-points which equals their highest ever points total since the club was created in 2013.
