A BORDERS music festival established six years ago is seeking funding to make this year’s event the best so far.

The organisers of Melrose Music Festival will make a bid for £2,500 to Scottish Borders Council’s William Hill Trust Fund when it meets on Tuesday (March 21).

The festival will be funded by a combination of ticket sales and donations.

As the projections show the cost of the 2023 festival will be £17,588, with ticket sales of £8,640, the expected shortfall is £8,948.

A festival spokesperson said: “Applications have been made to several funding sources for a contribution towards the net cost of this year’s festival.

“No decisions have so far been notified. In the meantime fundraising is also being carried out locally by our volunteers.”

The festival is to be staged between May 26 and June 17.
