A BORDERS town has been given a life-saving guarantee – thanks to a funding grant of £3,000 rubber-stamped today, Tuesday, March 21.

Members of the council’s Lauder Common Good Fund have granted a request from Lauderdale Community Council on behalf of a resilience group set up during pandemic.

The funds will ensure that defibrillators located across the town are maintained.

A submission with the application said: “Over the years, defibs have been donated to the community and have saved lives.

"We have volunteers who have organised themselves to devise a database in order to keep up to date with maintenance of the defibs and it’s essential for the town of Lauder to be able to obtain funding to keep defibs in working order at all times.

“We have a team of volunteers and statistically if someone has a cardiac arrest, the outcome of having a defib on hand can greatly reduce fatalities.”
