A COMMUNITY orchard planting day is set to take place this weekend in North Berwick, as groups throughout the community have teamed up to enrich the area.

The event is being led by North Berwick Trust, with trees being part funded by the group, along with The Queen’s Green Canopy and North Berwick Rotary.

The planting will take place at North Berwick Trust’s park, off Pilgrim’s Way in the town.

At the event, a variety of trees, including apple, pear, plum

and crab apple, will be planted, with each tree’s location recorded so that people can come back and care for the one they planted.

Two plantings will take place this Saturday, the first at 10am and the second at 1pm.

All are welcome to attend and no booking is required.

Those interested are asked to bring along a spade, fork or trowel and some gardening gloves.

A meeting place has been arranged at the entrance to the park just off Pilgrim’s Way.
