SCOTTISH Water is advising road users in the Tweed Road area of Galashiels of upcoming road works to upgrade the water network.  

Starting Tuesday April 11, Tweed Road, Tweed Grove and Netherdale Brae will be impacted by road and lane closures which will take place in three phases over a period of approximately 14 weeks.

Over £600,000 will be invested in replacing sections of water main which have reached the end of their serviceable life. The new pipes will reduce the risk of unplanned interruptions to customers water services and ensure the continued supply of clear fresh drinking water. 

These works have been agreed with Scottish Borders council and are being carried out now to help avoid impacting on the town's summer schedule of events.

Phase one will take place between April 11 – April 28 a road closure will be in place on Tweed Road at the junction of Tweed Grove. Local diversion routes are in place along Abbotsford Road and Dale Street. 

Phase two will take place between the  April 29 – May 26. Netherdale Brae will be closed.

Phase three will take place from the May 27 - July 14- a single lane closure will be in place on Netherdale Brae

There will be a single lane closure on Larchfield Street for the duration of the works.

During these road closures, no vehicle access will be permitted. However, footpaths and pedestrian access to your property will be maintained.

The site team will liaise with local council to facilitate waste collection services as normal. Working hours will be between 08:00 and 18:00. 

Contractor George Leslie will carry out these essential works on behalf of Scottish Water.
