A RUGBY player from Norfolk is raising money for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation by attempting to complete the Three Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours.

The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland (Ben Nevis 1345m) England (Scarfell Pike 978m) and Wales (Snowdon 1,085m)

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft) The total driving distance is 462 miles.

Bee Johnston and her Grandad Nigel Kippin start the challenge tomorrow Wednesday April 12 and the pair are determined to complete it within the allotted time. 

Bee's Nanna Jeni Barnacle will be providing support and driving between the peaks.

This challenge has been a dream of Bee's after completing numerous other peaks in Scotland and will be a great way to create unforgettable memories as she celebrates her 18th birthday.

Bee and Nigel have chosen to raise money for Doddie’s charity given their fondness of rugby.

Nigel played for Norwich Rugby Club from his youth until retirement due to injury at thirty-one.

Bee has played since she was a child, and continues to play for Diss Rugby Club, Eastern Counties U18s, and Norfolk ladies. 

She said: “We are using this challenge to support the Doddie Weir Foundation. We want to raise money for this foundation because rugby is a big part of mine and Nigel’s lives.

“Hopefully the money we raise will support the research needed to understand more about MND.”
