A HAWICK motorist has been convicted of causing a collision between two vehicles which resulted in a woman being seriously injured and a dog in the other car having to be destroyed.
Sixty-year-old Brian Hume of Waverley Cottages was initially charged with dangerous driving following the accident on the A698 Hawick to Cleikhimin road near to Spittal-on-Rule, Denholm, on May 10 last year.
But after a trial at Jedburgh Sheriff Court he was found guilty of the lesser charge of careless driving.
Hume had his licence endorsed with seven penalty points and fined £500 with a £20 victim surcharge.
