A MOTORIST who overtook five vehicles on the A703 in Peeblesshire causing one of them to swerve to avoid a collision has admitted a careless driving charge at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Civil engineer William Long, 46, who gave an address in Midlothian, pleaded guilty to the offence which happened on the afternoon of May 8 last year.
He was fined £1,000 and eight penalty points were placed on his licence.
A £40 victim surcharge was also imposed.
