A BORDERS-BASED care service has lived up to its name after inspectors deemed it “streets ahead”.

Streets Ahead (West) provides care at home and housing support for people in their own homes, tailored to a person’s needs.

This can be for a few hours or up to 24-hour support.

The service operates from the Lyle and Scott building on Liddersdale Road in Hawick and supports folk in and around the town.

Representatives of the Care Inspectorate paid an unannounced visit to the service recently and a wholly positive report has now been published.

It states that people experienced “warmth, kindness and compassion in how they were supported”.

People were also supported “to get the most out of life”.

Evaluating the service as “very good” for supporting people’s wellbeing and for the quality of its leadership, the report says: “One family member stated, ‘My relative’s carers are very good – any suggestions we make staff are open to it. It’s all about my relative’s needs and wants. We are very lucky.”
