A BOMB disposal team has been called to a Borders property after “suspect materials” were found.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the disturbance at the site next to the A7, south of Linhope, between Langholm and Hawick.

Officers were called to the property around 11pm on Tuesday (May 9) and subsequently found the materials.

The EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), police and emergency services are all in attendance.

Enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “As a precaution, a cordon has been put in place and the A7 has been closed between Langholm and Hawick.

“People are advised at this time to avoid the area and heed diversions.”

A Borders Buses spokesperson said that services between Hawick and Carlisle were impacted.
