POWER has been restored to part of a Borders town after a power cut caused 'chaos' for local shoppers.
Scottish Power received reports of a power cut affecting the TD1 postcode area at 1.27pm today (Friday, May 12).
The power has since been restored after engineers attended to fix the issue.
Members of the public told the Border Telegraph that customers at Tesco in Galashiels were being turned away at the doors as it had "temporarily closed" due to issues caused by the loss of power.
The member of the public added: "It's chaotic [there]."
Another person shared to social media: "Mayhem downtown in Galashiels Tesco and Asdas [sic] has power cut avoid if you don't want to be held up."
A spokesperson from Asda Galashiels confirmed that the power was "back on".
