A CLOSING date has been set by Scottish Borders Council for offers to rent retail premises within the Old Corn Exchange building on Peebles High Street.

The local authority-owned property is a traditionally-built building with a shop frontage occupying a prominent location on the main retail street in the town centre.

The premises has recently been refurbished with new toilet and kitchen facilities.

The yearly rate of rent is £14,300 and the council has set a date of June 1 for offers to be submitted.

A council spokesperson said: “The shop could be adapted for various uses subject to the relevant consents being obtained.

“These premises are available on a three-year lease and year to year thereafter with the tenant having the option to terminate on giving three months notice to quit at any time.

“The tenant shall be responsible for internal repairs during the tenancy of the lease and the landlord will be obliged to keep the premises in a wind and watertight condition.”

Offers should be submitted by email to estatemanagement@scotborders.gov.uk.
