A BORDERS nursery school has been found to have “significant strengths” after an unannounced visit by the Care Inspectorate.

The inspection at Drumlanrig St. Cuthbert’s Primary School at The Loan in Hawick took place on February 24, with a follow up visit on March 13.

To evaluate the school inspectors spoke to 15 children and 10 staff.

The council-run school was rated ‘good’ for its care, play and learning, its setting and for its leadership and ‘very good’ for its staff team.

The report says: “We found significant strengths in aspects of the care provided and how these supported positive outcomes for children.

“Staffing levels in the nursery ensured there were sufficient staff to carry out the vision and values of the service. We observed a confident and knowledgeable staff team who were respectful and supportive of each other.”
