AN ONLINE seller has told customers that a “rare” mistake meant that tickets for a Borders event included the wrong venue.

Ticket marketplace Viagogo has denied claims of “fraudulent” tickets for an upcoming concert for The Proclaimers in Kelso being sold on its site.

A spokesperson for the website said that the error, which saw Floors Castle wrongly listed as the event venue, rather than Kelso Showground (Borders Event Centre), had been corrected.

They said: “As the world’s leading ticket marketplace, we manage listings and transactions for thousands of events around the world every day.

"In this rare instance, the incorrect venue was listed for The Proclaimers event in Kelso.

"We have now corrected this on our platform and are in the process of contacting customers who have purchased tickets for the event.

“In line with our guarantee, refunds will be offered to any of the customers who bought tickets and cannot attend the correct venue.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The mistake was highlighted by Floors Castle on Thursday (May 11).

The Borders landmark shared to social media: “It has been brought to our attention that on Viagogo, which is a third party ticketing website they are falsely selling tickets for The Proclaimers at Floors Castle.

“The Proclaimers are not performing at Floors Castle. They are performing at Kelso Show Ground on the 10th of June.”

At the time of publication there is one ticket being sold for The Proclaimers in Kelso using Viagogo.

The now corrected ticket is listed on the website for £177 (£183 including a handling fee) - the face value of the ticket (excluding fees) is noted on the site as £47.50.
