REPORTS have been called after a 59-year-old man admitted assaulting his former partner at his home in Town Yetholm.

Andrew Curtis pleaded guilty at Jedburgh Sheriff Court to spitting on a woman, throwing a flag at her and punching her to the head to her injury at the property in Woodbank Road on March 15.

He also admitted threatening or abusive behaviour by acting in an aggressive manner and uttering threats of violence towards her which was aggravated by the fact it involved his ex-partner.

Sheriff Scott Manson said all options were open to the court due to the seriousness of the offence and Curtis’ record.

Sentence was deferred until June 5 for the preparation of a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and a Restriction of Liberty Order assessment.
