A BORDERS-BASED service that supports people with physical disabilities has received a ringing endorsement from inspectors.

A representative of the Care Inspectorate paid an unannounced visit to DDL Care Service Ltd on May 3.

The service supports adults, older adults and people with physical disabilities to remain living in their homes.

At the time of the inspection there were 36 people using the service, which is based at 3 Rowan Court in Cavalry Park in Peebles.

The subsequent report was entirely positive with the  service receiving ‘very good’ ratings for both supporting people’s well-being and the quality of its leadership.

The report states: “The staff were knowledgeable about people’s care needs and had caring and respectful attitudes when supporting them.

“People told us they felt supported well by the service and that if they had any concerns, they could speak to staff or management.”

It adds: “People experienced warmth, kindness and dignity in how they were supported and cared for.

“People’s choices were respected and promoted.

“Staff members knew people well and this promoted good health and wellbeing outcomes. One person told us, ‘I really couldn’t manage without them they’re my lifeline’.

“People felt confident contacting the manager if they needed to and felt if they had an issue, it would be appropriately actioned.

“Feedback from those using the service via reviews of care was positive.

“There was a log of compliments received from supported people which demonstrated they were happy with the service they received.

“Service management demonstrated a commitment to provide high quality care and support to people and to provide good working conditions for staff members.

“Staff told us they were supported very well by their managers.

“This contributed to their enjoyment and commitment to their care and support role.

“One stated, ‘I have always felt supported by the company when it has mattered the most’.”
