A 62-YEAR-OLD Selkirk woman who grabbed a young girl by the throat after she had skipped a shop queue has been fined £550 at the town’s sheriff court.

First offender Louise Wall pleaded guilty to assaulting the child to her injury.

Defence lawyer Ed Hulme said his client felt the girl had been rude and in the heat of the moment lashed out but let go of her throat immediately.

He added Wall had viewed the CCTV and felt “utterly mortified” at her own behaviour.

In addition to the fine she was ordered to pay a £40 victim surcharge.
