OWNERS of an electronics company are hoping planners are on their wavelength over a bid to move into the former home of Radio Borders.
Radio Borders' studio facilities on Tweedside Park at Tweedbank in Galashiels closed in October last year, with broadcasting moving to a new ‘world class’ facility at Radio Forth’s new HQ at St James Quarter in Edinburgh.
The station was also re-branded to Greatest Hits Radio.
Now a planning bid has been submitted for a change of use of the vacant radio station building by Stewart Technology Ltd, a privately-owned Contract Electronic Manufacturing (CEM) company which has provided cost effective electronic manufacturing services (EMS) since 1998.

The company, run by John and Sheila Robertson, is currently based at another facility on Tweedside Park.
Speaking at the time of Radio Borders' departure from Galashiels, Victoria Easton-Riley, content director for the Hits Radio Network across Scotland, said: “We are committed to providing the best quality in radio content and having recently launched our brand-new state of the art studios in Edinburgh, our team in Galashiels have jumped at the chance to use them and be close to their colleagues in Forth 1 and 2, so making this switch full time made sense.”
