OPENING hours are set to be extended at two libraries in the Borders, it has emerged.
The longer hours at both Galashiels and Hawick libraries are in the pipeline as a new report reveals that library membership in the region is growing again as the service bounces back from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Borderers are also increasingly accessing audio books and ebooks, a report on the performance of Live Borders, which runs the library service locally, reveals.
The library service now has 2,678 audiobooks and 3,057 ebooks in stock.
The proposed move is to discussed at a meeting of the council's External Services/Providers Monitoring Group on Tuesday (September 5).
