RESIDENTS in Galashiels will soon find it easier to visit a careers adviser.

Skills Development Scotland (SDS), who delivers the national career service, is changing location to be more accessible to customers.

National skills body SDS offers free, impartial career information, advice and guidance in secondary schools and for people of all ages in centres and community venues across Scotland.

As part of the change, SDS is moving to New Reiver House on Gala’s High Street, which is conveniently located in the town centre. In preparation for this, the team will move out of its career centre in Waukrigg Mill on Duke Street on Friday 15 September.

Shona Mitchell, SDS Head of Operations South West explains: “Customers will still be able to contact us to access face-to-face career information, advice and guidance locally.

“Our professionally qualified careers advisers are moving to New Reiver House on Gala’s High Street, adjacent to JobCentre Plus. We’ll be up and running there from Monday 2 October and will be available there three days a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am to 5pm. We close 12:30pm to 1.30pm for lunch.

“Our new High Street location will make it easier for customers to visit us as it’s in the town centre with good access to bus and train links. There is also car parking with disabled spaces.
