The A6091 road is currently closed near to the Kingsknowes Roundabout.

Several emergency services vehicles are in attendance.

Drivers are being diverted along the A7 toward Selkirk.

UPDATE: Police Scotland say they were alerted to an incident around 9am.

Winston Road and Tweed Road are also closed with local diversions in place.

12.30pm: A6091 remains closed.

1,30pm : A6091 now open for vehicles travelling west into Galshiels. It is still closed eastwards toward Melrose and the BGH.

Two police cars and two ambulances remain at the scene.

2pm: A6091 now open in both direction and traffic running as normal. Emergency services have left the scene.

UPDATE: 2.15pm 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9am on Sunday, 17 September 2023, police and emergency services attended a concern for person incident on the A6091, Gala Bridge, Kingsknowes Roundabout, Galashiels.

"The A6091, Winston Road and Tweed Road were closed to allow officers to carry out their enquiries.

"Around 1pm, a man was removed from the bridge.  Enquiries are continuing.
"Roads are now open."

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We supported emergency service partners at a concern for person incident on the A6091, Gala Bridge, Kingsknowes Roundabout, Galashiels.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and other specialist resources to the area after the alarm was raised at 9.10am on Sunday, September 17.”
