AN OFFSHORE fisherman knocked a man unconscious during an assault in an Eyemouth public house, Jedburgh Sheriff Court has been told.

Twenty-seven-year-old Keil Spouse, of Hallydown Crescent, Eyemouth, pleaded guilty to punching the man to the head and pulling him to the ground, and repeatedly kicking him on the head rendering him unconscious and to his severe injury.

He also admitted assaulting another man by repeatedly attempting to punch him on the body.

The assaults happened at the Cuttty Sark in the High Street on November 5 last year.

The court heard that Spouse, who had travelled from Fraserburgh for the court hearing, is due to head offshore working for the next three weeks.

Sheriff Kevin McCarron deferred sentence until November 6 for background reports.
