ENERGISE Galashiels Trust has been shortlisted for further two national accolades.

The group is a finalist in Scotland’s Town’s Partnership Award for Creative Town, and former chair Mike Gray, is a finalist for the Place Leader of the Year.

The announcement makes it a nomination hat-trick for the town, with the SURF Awards Finalist position announced earlier this month.

In applying for the Creative Town Award. details were given about the range of large-scale murals installed in key locations.

The Trust also highlighted the work with members of the local community in designing the artwork for pole banners that decorate the town centre, and the Sculpture Placement project, that saw several pieces of artwork located in business premises throughout the town.

With the Place Leader Award, the Trust gave detail of the unwavering work of Mike Gray during his tenure as chair of EGT.

Ian Dalgleish, the serving EGT chair, said: “The trustees of EGT are amazed to be confirmed as finalists for another two prestigious national awards.

“It is fitting that one of these is in recognition of the work of my predecessor, Mike Gray, who gave almost a decade to the Trust and the town.

“We look forward to both the Scotland’s Towns Partnership Awards and SURF Awards events over the coming months.”

The awards are organised by Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP) as an extension of Scotland Loves Local. The achievements will be celebrated at a ceremony at The V&A Dundee on Tuesday, November 28.
