A BORDERS carnival will not take place next year, organisers have revealed.

The long-running Langlee Carnival was last held in September and featured a variety of activities for families.

But organisers have confirmed that the event will not run in 2024, with funding issues among the reasons given.

They are hoping to hold "something bigger and better" the following year.

A spokesperson said: "It is with a very heavy heart that we have decided not to hold our carnival next year.

"After coming back from COVID last year to a very successful carnival, then onto this year where it was an uphill struggle, we have decided to take a break.

"We have been running for so long and had so much community support, which has made the decision very hard, but due [to] funding, fighting to keep our audience against other local events and [wanting to] offer our community the best day, we just cannot afford to have it in September.

"So in 2025 we will be looking at changing the date and it will give us time to run smaller events to help raise funds for our newly revived carnival.

"We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years and hopefully you will continue your support for when we come back.

"Our community are amazing and hopefully we will be able to offer you all something bigger and better in 2025."
