A SKI resort in the Scottish Highlands has been named one of the best and most prestigious to visit in the world.

The research looked at ticket prices, elevation, annual snowfall and average ratings to create an overall score for each spot.

Locations like Zermatt in Switzerland and Livigno in Italy topped the list, recording scores of 60 and 50 respectively.

Glencoe Mountain ski resort was named one of the best spots in the world for enthusiasts of the popular sport.

John Charnock from StressFreeCarRental.com said of the location: “Despite ranking in twelfth position, Glencoe Mountain ski resort in Scotland is the most cost-friendly retreat."

The Glencoe Mountain resort was found to have the lowest ticket prices of any of the spots named on the list with an average rate of €43.03 (£37.02).

This contrasted heavily with the rates offered at other places with some of these exceeding €100.

After looking at other factors such as the average elevation (1,070 metres) and the routes, Glencoe Mountain was given a score of 21.
