A WARNING of 'major disruption' has been issued ahead of a Galashiels road being reduced to one-way traffic.

The measure will come into effect on Monday (January 29) and will last until Sunday, February 11, on Lahope Vale.

It is to allow the installation of power cables, according to Borders Buses.

The bus service operator said the change would impact the X95, 51, 54, 74, 60, 67, 68, 70, 73, 313 and 314.

A Borders Buses spokesperson said: "We would like to bring to our customers attention, some temporary changes to the network which will take place during the temporary one-way traffic flow that is being introduced from Monday, January 29, until Sunday, February 11, 2024, on Ladhope Vale due to the installation of new power cables.

"To accommodate the local diversion route, the following services will divert as follows.

"Services 313, 51 and 60 will operate from Station Brae via ASDA Currie Road, Paton Street, Bank Street, High Street, Bridge Place and Ladhope Vale to re-join normal route at Stirling Place for the transport interchange.

"Services 314, 67, 68 and X95 will operate from Abbotsford Road via Albert Place, Bank Street, High Street, Bridge Place and Ladhope Vale to re-join normal route at Stirling Place for the transport interchange.

"The following services will operate a revised route during this closure.

"Services 54 will operate a revised timetable with journeys departing ASDA bus stop at 30 minutes past each hour omitting Transport Interchange.

"Services 70 will depart ASDA bus stop (opposite doctor’s surgery) at 00 and 30 minutes past each hour omitting the Transport Interchange and Market Street bus stop.

"[There will be] no route or time changes to service 70A during this closure.

"Service 73 will depart ASDA bus stop (opposite doctor’s surgery) at 40 minutes past each hour omitting the Transport Interchange and Market Street bus stop.

"Service 74 will operate a revised timetable with journeys departing ASDA bus stop at 00 each hour omitting Transport Interchange.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause that is out with our control."
