AN ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl is in "critical" condition after she was involved in a crash with a vehicle in the Borders.

She was airlifted to hospital following the incident shortly after 8am this morning (Wednesday, January 31) on a road off the A6105 in Gordon.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured, according to police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.05am on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, police received a report of a road crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on a road off the A6105 in Gordon.

"The pedestrian, an 11-year-old girl, was airlifted to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where medical staff describe her condition as critical.

"The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

"The A6105 between Gordon and Greenlaw was closed while investigations were carried out and reopened around 12.40pm. Enquiries remain ongoing into the incident."
