“HIGH-PROFILE” police patrols have been carried out around three Borders towns in response to community concerns.

Police Scotland’s special initiative team joined CAT (community action team) officers in Kelso, Innerleithen and Peebles on Saturday (March 16).

The patrols were in response to concerns over vandalism and disorderly behaviour, according to a spokesperson.

Alcohol was seized from numerous young people, they added.

“We will continue to work relentlessly to ensure there is no place for violence and anti-social behaviour in our communities,” said the spokesperson.

Meanwhile, in a separate update, Police Scotland confirmed that officers had carried out a number of speed checks in and around Duns on the weekend.

Eleven drivers were warned regarding their speed, according to a spokesperson.
