THE spirit of Lochgelly is in full swing as the community is coming together to support the annual Gala on Sunday, August 18.

It is with heartfelt gratitude that the committee extend their thanks to every volunteer who has offered to dedicate their time to make the event a success.

Gala committee secretary Kelly Mackay said this week: “Generous contributions are coming in, with both individuals and businesses alike offering their support, both in terms of time and financial donations.

“The gala’s success will be a testament to the community’s unwavering commitment to coming together for a common cause."

Kelly added: “We would like to ask those with premises along the gala parade route to decorate the front of their building this year, any décor is welcomed and there will be a trophy for the winner.

“A special acknowledgement goes out to those donating to the tombola and raffle. Every ticket sold adds to the pot and all the money raised will help make the gala great.

“The work doesn’t stop here, we are still eager for volunteers to join us both in the run up to the gala and on the day.

"We also welcome any ideas and suggestions for what will make the event better, so we would urge people to come along to the next meeting, at Torley’s Bar, High Street, on Monday, May 13, at 6.30pm.

“For those brimming with ideas, or happy to get involved but cannot make the meeting, please get in touch via the Gala Facebook community page."

This year the committee have secured a band for the Gala.

Kelly said: “State of Emergency will be playing on the big stage, and we have some amazing prizes coming your way including a VR headset, vouchers and cash prizes.

"We hope everyone is as excited as we are. Let’s make 2024 Gala the best yet!”
