A BORDERS village hall is in line for a face-lift with a £5,000 funding bid set for approval.

Phase one will see the launch of an improvement project to de-carbonise Oxnam Village Hall, near Jedburgh.

This involves lowering the ceiling in the main hall and plastering work. This will reduce the volume to be heated, environmental impact and running costs, helping to make the hall warmer and more comfortable for the community to use.

It is hoped this work will enable Phase 2 to follow, which would involve installation of solar panels.

When members of Scottish Borders Council’s Cheviot Area Partnership meet on Wednesday, May 29, they will be recommended to approve funding of £5,000 to enable the first stage of the work to be launched.
