TWENTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD Cody Nicholson, who admitted stealing a 12-pack of Budweiser beer, has been ordered to be of good behaviour for the next six months.
He pleaded guilty to the offence which happened at Aldi in Commercial Road, Hawick, on December 15.
Defence lawyer Ross Dow told Jedburgh Sheriff Court his client was drinking at the time and on benefits.
He added that when Nicholson ran out of money “he took a chance”.
Sentence was deferred on Nicholson, of Silverbuthall Road, Hawick, until December 3.
