A MELROSE care home has been rated ‘very good’ by the Care Inspectorate.
St John’s care home is based at High Cross Avenue and is registered to provide support to a maximum of 17 older people.
The service is provided by Mansfield Care Limited.
A representative of the Care Inspectorate paid an unannounced visit on June 26.
The findings were that staff were knowledgeable about people’s care needs and showed “genuine caring and respectful attitudes”.
Effective leadership also ensured that the right care and support was in place to meet the desired outcomes.
Support plans were person-centred and mealtime experiences gave access to a variety of meals and drinks, with choice promoted.
Overall the service was rated ‘very good’ for supporting people’s well-being and for its staff team and ‘good’ for the care and support planned.
The report states: “We found significant strengths in aspects of the care provided and how those supported positive outcomes for people.”
